In 1862 the sturdy cellar vaults were built for the use of a brewery. After a few years Gustav Ranin started to produce beer in the facilities as well as the famous spirit Savon Wiina. In 1982 the gourmet sign was lifted upon the celler vaults. The restaurant was named Musta Lammas. Since then we have lead the culinary culture in Finland forward.
Behind each course is our enthusiastic and innovative kitchen team lead by our head chef Jere Hakkarainen.
Our kitchen gets their inspiration from the multiple seasons that our food year offers us. The hype comes from the forests, fields and clean lakes in our Kuopio region.
We grow some of our own herbs and vegetable on the roof top garder on top of our restaruant. The roof top garden on top of our restaurant and the magnificient local producers allows us to work with the best ingredients of the world all year around.
All drinks are professionally chosen to accompany the dishes for the full experience.

Our philosophy is to create culinary experiences from old Mediterranean recipes brought to this day in our own unique style with a Nordic twist. Our chefs handcraft all dishes mostly from

Imagine your party to the atmospheric scenic restaurant on top oh Tahko slopes. Panorama is the dream location for someone who loves a good view. You can see lake Syväri from our 180 degree windows. Dinner or private event on top of Thako is always an experience.
ROBBER'S ROAST DINNER
We warm up the hole in the ground for the roast and salmon for the first time the previous day. The hole has a very steady temperature of 100 to 130 celcius. the meat is wrapped in foil and put inside the sand to cook for at least 8 hours. we keep a fire going on top of the hole so the blazed salmon is cooked simultaneously. The robber’s roast is amazingly good and takes the whole day to cook.

Welcome to Sawohouse!
With peaceful surroundings you will find and unique accommodation and a wide range of facilities. Boutique Hotel Sawohouse has 18 comfortable individually decorated hotel rooms (maximum capacity for 37 people). The hotel has also a recently renovated atmospheric A la Carte restaurant based on a Spanish-Scandinavian taste, a bar, a café and a summer terrace, as well as a cozy sauna area. In hotel you also find a well being center Satumaiset Hyvinvointipalvelut, which offers massage, beauty and wellness services, and also the Passion Golf Studio, which has two golf simulators that can be booked by appointment.
SawoHouse is open year around Mondays from 8 am to 9 pm , Tuesdays to Saturdays from 8 am to 10 pm and Sundays from 8 am to 6 pm. Breakfast buffet is available on weekdays from 8 am to 10 am and weekends from 8 am to 10.30. Special arrangements are possible. Sawohouse Underground is open on event weekends from 21:00 until 02:00. Please note that during Underground concerts,the rhythm of the music can be heard quietly in the hotel rooms The gig schedule can be seen on the Gigs section of the Underground pages and in the Events section of our website. Sabor is Spanish and means taste. We have now opened our renewed restaurant. Our master chef Angela Espinos, from Valencia, creates an Ala Carte menu based on Spanish-Scandinavian cuisines, where Finnish and locally produced ingredients are combined with traditional Spanish recipes.
At the bar you can buy quality wines from Spain, Italy, Portugal, local local brewery beers and non-alcoholic drinks.

King’s Crown is the place to be in the heart of Kuopio city centre if you are in to good food and a relaxed and international atmosphere. Restaurant Hetki in Rautalampi offers lunch on weekdays, house-baked buns and cakes and also does catering with a postivie and relaxed attitude.
Restaurant Isä Camillo is located in Kuopio, in an old bank building opposite beautiful Snellman's Park. The restaurant was founded 1998, and since then it has been very popular among the tourists as well as locals.
Restaurant's food philosophy is based on three gastronomic seasons. At winter the deep and warm flavours are on plate. In spring time the menu gets lighter and green tastes & grill are in main role. The autumn is main gastronomic season in Finland. Then the mushrooms, game, root vegetables and fishes are served to our guests.

PUBLIC TRADITIONAL EVENINGS AT JÄTKÄNKÄMPPÄ EVERY TUESDAY
"Traditional public Finnish evenings" are organised Tuesdays around the year at Jätkänkämppä (jätkä = a lumberjack, kämppä = a lodge), which is an authentic lumberjack lodge from the 1950´s. The Jätkänkämppä is the pride of Rauhalahti and it is situated 600 metres from the Spa Hotel Rauhalahti.

Restaurant Urban is a lunch- and catering restaurant situated in an old beautiful building just next to the Kuopio market square. Finland's most popular food and win magazine Glorian Ruoka & Viini voted Urban as the best restaurant of the year in 2016 and Urban became part of the Chaîne de Rotisseurs restaurants in 2016. The Chef, Anssi Kantelinen, won the Finnish Top Chef competition dual in 2015 and ever since, Anssi has offered something to taste and talk about with his extraordinary gastonomic skills in the Kuopio gastronomic scene. Urban is mainly open for lunch only but every now and then they organise Surprise Menu Evenings that will serve a five course suprise menu. All the surpise menu evenings follow the seasons and uses the ingredients that are in season.
